Queen Letizia of Spain cut a demure look today as she and her husband King Felipe today arrived at the funeral of Fernando Gomez-Acebo.
The royal couple looked sombre in navy blue and black as they paid their respects to the king's cousin at the mass at Castrense Cathedral in Madrid.
Fernando Gomez-Acebo passed away aged 49 on March 1 from Covid-19.
He was the Spanish monarch's first cousin and King Juan Carlos's nephew. He is also the youngest son of Infanta Pilar and Luis Gómez-Acebo.
Felipe, 56, and Letizia, 51, arrived at the funeral mass to a waiting crowd of royal supporters and fans.
An air of melancholy could be seen around them as they walked hand-in-hand through the building's grounds.

For the moving occasion, the Queen donned a form-fitting black frock which featured frayed detailing at the waist and sleeve ends.
She paired the look with a black leather handbag and stunning pearl brooch.
As the Queen was in mourning, she kept her make-up subtle. Meanwhile her brunette locks were swept downwards and rested just above her shoulders.
The King paid respects to his cousin in a navy blue double-breasted blazer and matching trousers. He paired the suit with a crisp white shirt and a black tie.
The news comes as the Royal couple attended another poignant event last month - a remembrance service for victims of terrorism.
The royal looked sophisticated in a navy long-sleeved gown during a commemorative event paying tribute to the nearly 200 victims of the 2004 train attack in Madrid.
The mother-of-two paired her chic ensemble with matching kitten heels and a leather clutch bag as she arrived at the Royal Collection Gallery.

The pair put on a united front for the trip
A week before Queen Letizia of Spain looked radiant in red leather trousers as she attended the National Sports Awards in Madrid.
The 5ft 3 Spanish monarch attended the awards with her husband King Felipe VI at the Royal Palace of El Pardo on Thursday.
But the royal, who is known for her sartorial prowess, struggled to lift the trophy - which was almost as big as her.
For the function, Letizia paired the leather trousers with a cream blouse and completed her ensemble with matching red stilettos and a cream belt to cinch in her waist.
The mother-of-two's brunette locks looked glossy and sleek and she accessorised with gold drop earrings.
Meanwhile King Felipe looked smart in a navy suit, which he paired with a blue shirt and a pink tie.
While attending the National Sports Awards, the royal couple handed out a number of honours to athletes, such as skier Ester Ledecka.
